Welcome to the 2019 Big Sky Basketball Championships!

Thank you for your interest in giving your time and talents to help our staff at the Championships. Our organization values volunteer service and is excited at your interest in making this a great experience for our student-athletes, coaches, fans and the Boise community. The men's and women's tournaments are March 11-16, 2019. 

Key Volunteer Information:

1.  REQUIREMENTS:  All volunteers are required to register for the mandatory Volunteer Orientation.  In the registration process, you have the opportunity and are encouraged to sign up for shifts in both the women's and men's tournaments. ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.

2.  ORIENTATION:  All volunteers are asked to attend a mandatory volunteer orientation session via conference call where they will receive the information specific to this event, the conference office, and other instruction.

3.  UNIFORM:  Volunteers may receive their official shirt and credentials Sunday, March 10 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the tournament site OR when you start your first shift. The official volunteer uniform shirt should be worn with clean and well-maintained tan khaki pants or skirt and comfortable shoes. 

4.  BACKGROUND SCREENING:  The Big Sky Conference requires background screens for all volunteer positions. These background screens are done by an independent third party at NO COST TO YOU. You will be redirected to the Verified Volunteers (VV) site through a new tab within your web browser once you have confirmed your shifts. VV will collect the necessary information from you directly and conduct the background screen. Your information is maintained by VV; the Big Sky Conference will not access personal information unless flagged for further review. In any event, the conference office will not have access to your social security number. 

Upon completion of your background screen, you will receive an e-mail directly from VV.  The email will confirm that you have filled out the necessary information for the check and let you know it is processing. You will not receive any communication from the Big Sky or VV if you have passed. If your background screen requires further review from our office, you will receive notification from VV. The notification will not include any other information or explanation supporting VV’s determination; however, the notification will include contact information should you want to discuss the results with a VV representative. The Big Sky Conference will abide by the notification provided by VV, and will not “override” that designation under any circumstances.
